In recent years, minimally invasive rhinoplasty techniques—particularly the so-called Rhinofiller or Medical Rhinoplasty—have gained wide popularity.
The Rhinofiller procedure consists of injecting hyaluronic acid fillers into specific strategic points of the nose, often preceded by Botox application. When performed correctly, this technique can even improve nasal breathing, which is of great clinical importance.
However, Rhinofiller also presents some notable limitations:
- Hyaluronic acid is gradually reabsorbed, requiring repeat treatments.
- The nose tends to become larger and bulkier over time.
Hyaluronic acid is a gel-like filler, which means it lacks stability in shape and position. It can easily migrate from the injection site, accumulating in areas where increased volume is undesirable.
For example:
- If placed on the nasal dorsum to improve projection, it may laterally migrate, producing unwanted broadening of the bridge.
- If injected at the tip, it may shift unpredictably, altering nasal shape.
Moreover, hyaluronic acid nourishes the extracellular matrix, which over time may stimulate the growth of nasal cartilage and soft tissues—further contributing to structural changes.
For these reasons, Rhinofiller should be used with caution, and alternative approaches should always be considered.
One such alternative is Morphodynamic Rhinoplasty with threads, which allows for substantial and permanent modifications of nasal shape, such as:
- Lifting and narrowing of the tip
- Narrowing of the nostrils
- Smoothing of the dorsum
- etc.
These results are achieved minimally invasively, provided the indications are correct.
In Morphodynamic Cosmetic Surgery, rhinoplasty may combine threads with other minimally invasive techniques, offering stable and natural results without aggressive surgery.
In the case shown in the article’s photo, the nasal tip was refined using two threads.
– in the following case the nose was modified with three threads:
